A system equivalent to High School Diploma, General Education Development or GED is battery of five tests developed to see the caliber of taker. GED certifies that the candidate has American or Canadian High School level academic skills. GED was initiated by United States Armed Forces Institute in 1942 as it asked American Council on Education (ACE) to develop battery of tests for World War II veterans.
